A Mission Statement About Nothing

Jerry Seinfeld created the show Seinfeld, which is often described as a show about nothing because many of its episodes are about the minutiae of daily life. This is a blog is based off of a similar principle. It is a blog about life culture and everything in between. so without further ado I give you The Blog About Nothing.

Opening Night Rematch

The Royals and Mets faced off on Opening Night making it the first time in MLB history. The Royals are having a week long party against the Mets Hoisting their World Series banner during a nationally televised, and today giving out their rings. The Royals looked good against the Mets while Edinson Volquez was on the bump. He went 6 innings with 5 K’s and no earned runs. After Eddy came out in the first and went three up and three down Moustakas ripped one in the direction of Yoenis Cespedes who just botched the catch the easy play just like he did in the World Series. Lorenzo Cain proceed to walk and than after that Eric Hosmer hit a chopper to the outfield scoring the first run of the Royals season. Through the next five innings the Royals would quietly score 3 more runs getting them to the point in the game where the Royals were almost unbeatable last year, the last three innings.

Joakim Soria came in to start the 7th inning and only went 2/3 of the inning walking three batters and giving up three hits and three runs. Luke Hochevar came into relieve Soria and recorded the final out. Hochevar stayed in to pitch the 8th inning going 1-2-3.

Wade Davis came in to close the game getting his first save of the season and securing the Royals first win of the season 4-3. The Royals and Mets play again today it will be noah syndergaard against Chris Young.

World Series Odds

With baseball season upon us everyone who is not up to date on the latest baseball trends (because lets be honest a lot of people do not get really into baseball until after the all star break) turn to Vegas to see what teams have the best odds to win it all.

The Chicago Cubs who have the longest Championship drought in American sport spanning  108 years have the best odds to win the World Series at 9/2. The Cubs have a scary lineup with their 1-6 hitters all being all star caliber players. I watched Ben Zobrist play the second half of last season in Kansas City and he is just awesome. He hits the ball well, gets on base, and he is the best utility player in the league in my opinion.

I think the Cubs can definitely make the playoffs, but its just to early to tell who will make it, injuries  happen, players can have droughts and bad seasons. You just never know with baseball, that is the beauty of the sport.

VegasOdds

The Royals have gone to the World Series the last two seasons, losing by 90ft in 2014 and winning it off of questionable but great in the moment instinctive base running by Eric Hosmer. The Royals looked great on Opening Night against the Mets. They do not seem to have any sort of championship hang over. Its one game though and a long season ahead of the Royals in a competitive central division which will take around 92 games to win in my opinion. The Royals win the division and make another playoff run but get cut off by Astros seeking revenge after last years epic series between the two teams.

World Series Not Enough Payback?

MLB: SEP 30 American League Wild Card - A's at Royals

The Kansas City royals have been “quietly signaling their intent to seek retribution against the Mets” reported by the newspaper Newsday In game three of the World Series Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard threw a fast ball at leadoff man Alcides Escobar. Newspaper Newsday’s source indicated the Royals were still upset about the incident and planned to retaliate on opening night at Kauffman stadium.

The report had the Kansas City Royals clubhouse laughing and joking about the matter. Ned Yost was quick to respond saying “We haven’t even thought about it, our retribution was winning the World Series.”

The Royals and Mets are playing Sunday night. This will be the first time in Major League history where the two teams who played in the World Series in the Previous year face off on Opening day. Edinson Volquez will be facing off against Matt Harvey. Game two will be Syndergaard against Ian Kennedy.

Edinson Volquez was quoted saying “You know, if they mess with one of us guys here, you’re going to find a lot of people to care of it. But there’s nothing wrong with what he did last year. I think he was trying to pitch inside and the ball just got away from him.”
